A view from the bottom of a slot canyon.

We stayed up late for the Perseid meteor shower. This is a long exposure showing the earth rotating while the stars stay in the same spot. The effect is most noticeable at the edges. Unfortunately none of the meteors we saw made it into the image.

From a hike we took through the canyon.

A neat shot from just before dark with the moon rising in the background.

It is a pretty deep canyon and you don't really appreciate the depth until you climb up to the edge.

We tried to take an adventurous route through the Utah backcountry roads to get to the grand canyon. After an hour of driving through washed out roads, fording streams and dodging boulders we got to a sign that said the road was closed. We had to backtrack to Bryce, but we did get to see a cool natural arch and this view of the surrounding territory from the top of a hill.
